Sciotex is an engineering firm that designs and builds physical industrial AI systems, and it says it has done so in the US since 19971.
Best for: Plants that need a working inline inspection or counting system on the line, not a strategy document.
Not the right fit for: Company-wide AI strategy, back-office automation or multi-site programs.
What Sciotex does for manufacturers
Its work covers AI visual inspection, part counting and sorting, robotic inspection and handling, AI analysis of automated-test data and machine monitoring for predictive maintenance2. Unlike most firms in this guide, it delivers the hardware (cameras, lighting and compute) and the integration with PLCs and MES as well as the models. Many inspection projects fail at exactly that point.
Its process has five steps: a feasibility test on your own parts, a proof of concept, design, build and training, then installation, validation and support. The first consultation is free.
Published evidence
- Payback (firm’s estimate). Sciotex says payback can be a few weeks for automated counting and 7 to 12 months for vision inspection systems.2
Strengths and limits
Strengths
- Builds the whole physical system, not only the model, which is where many inspection projects stall.
- Starts with a feasibility test on your own parts before a proof of concept.
- Explains what drives cost: inspection points, part handling, cameras and lighting, compute and PLC or MES integration.
Limits
- The site shows client logos but describes no engagements, so there are no case studies to check.
- Payback figures on the site are the firm’s own estimates.
- Narrow by design: no strategy, ERP or office work.
Choose another option if: You are still deciding which problem to solve first, or the problem is in planning or the office rather than on the line.
Pricing
Not published. Cost depends on inspection points, handling, cameras, compute and integration.
Questions to ask Sciotex
- Can we see a system like ours running, or talk to a plant that uses one?
- What accuracy did the feasibility test reach on our parts, and how was it measured?
- Who maintains the cameras, lighting and models after installation?
- What happens when we introduce a new part or product variant?
